Scoring Writing Items

Scoring the Writing Items on the ORExt Testing Application 

All student writing is recorded by the database and manual grading by the test administrator is required before data entry will be considered complete. The required written outcome and scoring directions are presented, along with the student’s actual writing, and the QA is asked to score the response as correct or incorrect. 

There are 3 places to score ELA writing items. For students who completed the writing items electronically: go to the Manual Grading tab on the electronic test app.

For students who completed the writing items paper/pencil: go to the Data Entry tab on the electronic test app or the Monitoring section of the training site.

ELA assessments will not show as Submit (S) until all writing items have been scored.
